About Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences (ISHS)
The ISHS, one of the post-graduate departments of Savitribai Phule Pune University, offers post graduate courses in public health. Established through funding from the University Grant Commission (UGC) in 1989, the School is the first institute in the country to offer Masters of Public Health (MPH) programme supported by UGC. In addition to the MPH, the School offers a M. Sc. In Health Sciences and two Ph. D. courses (Ph.D. Public Health and Ph.D. Health Sciences).
Intake for each academic year is 20+4 international students (10+2 for each course). Students visiting India on scholarships are eligible for part-time study through registration for selected courses.
The School has field training are at the Kamshet Primary Health Centre situated one hour away from Pune city. This PHC provides the opportunity for field based study of sub-district level health system organizations, understanding role of community health workers, disease control programmes, health promotion services, maternal and child health services and disease surveillance.
