Located on the top floor of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan in the verdant green campus of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, the Department has a sanctioned faculty strength of eight members. In keeping with the initial focus of the Department, the thrust area of research of the faculty remains Western India in the Medieval and Modern periods of Indian history.

सावित्रीबाई फुले पुणे विद्यापीठाच्या हिरव्यागार परिसरातील डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर भवनमध्ये दुसऱ्या मजल्यावर इतिहास विभाग आहे. विभागात आठ अध्यापकीय पदांना शासनमान्यता आहे. मध्ययुगीन आणि आधुनिक काळातील पश्चिम भारताचा इतिहास हा या विभागाचा सुरुवातीपासूनचा अभ्यासविषय राहिलेला आहे.
