Admissions to Two-years M.Sc. / One-year PG Diploma in Bioinformatics Programme

The M. Sc. Bioinformatics program at Bioinformatics Centre SPPU, offers an opportunity to explore a new, exciting, happening field of science to the students having bachelors’ degree. The multidisciplinary nature of Bioinformatics makes this opportunity equally interesting and open not only for the students from biological or biomedical sciences but also for those from mathematics, statistics, physical & chemical sciences as well as computer science. After accomplishing the masters’ degree in Bioinformatics, several career opportunities open up for the students, in R&D institutions, academia and industry. We, at the Centre, have witnessed a large number of such exemplary careers of our alumni which have flourished on the basis of the foundations, knowledge and skills attained during our M. Sc. Bioinformatics program.
Starting from the Academic year 2023-24, students can also opt for exit after completion of one year/ 2 semesters. In such case PG Diploma certificate would be awarded.

Admission Details
- Total Number of seats available: 30 (for M. Sc. Bioinformatics under the support of DBT, Govt. of India)
- Admissions based on merit in the national entrance examination Graduate Aptitude Test – Biotechnology (GAT-B)
- The aspiring candidates must appear for the national entrance examination Graduate Aptitude Test – Biotechnology (GAT-B)
- The rules and regulations under the reservation policy of the Central Government of India are applicable for admissions for the 30 seats. Eligibility Criteria for Admission to M. Sc. Bioinformatics @ SPPU
- Qualifying Degrees: B. Sc. degree in any area of pure or applied Life Sciences / Physical Sciences / Chemical Sciences / Statistics / Mathematics / Computer Science OR o B.E./ B.Tech./ M.B.B.S./ B.A.M.S./ B.H.M.S./ B. Pharm/ B.V.Sc. etc.
- Minimum Percentage required in the qualifying degree programme:
UR (General) Category: First class with minimum 60% marks or Grade A with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 on the scale of 0-10
Reservation category: Second class with minimum 55% marks or Grade B with a minimum CGPA of 5.5 on the scale of 0-10
