Pune to Pandharpur -Palakhi Dindi Sohala
A
very unique experiment of organizing tree plantation and cleanliness
campaign on the occasion of Saint Dnyaneshwar Palkhi Dindi (A
religious Dindi Yatra of warkkari community), who walk from Alandi
to Pandharpur for 20 days halting in between at various places. In
this yatra approximately 5 lakh devotees participate from various
corners of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. 100-200
selected NSS volunteers from different universities participate in
this yatra and walk 20 days along with devotees. The NSS is
participating since 2004-2005 every year, and efforts taken by NSS
volunteers is appreciated by everyone. The volunteers planted 30,000
sapling plantation, 60,000 seeds and carried our cleanliness
campaign, sanitation and health campaign and maintaining discipline
during the Palakhi Darshan. They have distributed 2,00,000 drumstick
seeds to devote
