University of Pune has established a disaster
Management cell. 140 NSS programme Officers and 60 other
teachers have been trained in disaster Management at YASHADA
Pune for five days each. All Colleges have established a
disaster management cell consisting of 30 students (200 in
No.) 3 days workshop on disaster management at Baramati for
1200 NSS Programme Officers was organized State level.
We have trained 6000 volunteers by taking 30
workshops on disaster management in collaboration with
District Collector disaster management Cells in Pune, Nagar
and Nashik. To over come problem of Draught, we have trained
300 Programme Officers and 10,00 students to launch
programme of continuous contour Trenches (CCT) and digged
1,50,000 running meter of CCT along 45 hillocks and solved
the water problem and survived the life of 45 hills by
planting 1,00000 trees.
Under Samarath Bharat Abhiyan our Colleges in
their Vicinity have adopted 371 villages for their over all
development and to promote different activities such as
Water Shade Management, Literacy in energy, Agriculture
awareness, Pains in Health and hygiene, Sports activities,
promoting education etc.
NSS
department launched one refresher course for 31 teachers
under UGC and Academic Staff College. We have established an
Ad-hoc board of studies in "Disaster Management" wherein
certificate and diploma courses will be held form ensuing
academic year.
Every year we take 250 NSS Volunteers from
pune to pandharpur along with 3-4 Lakh warkaries (Devotees)
to campaign tree Plantation programme under the
project "VrukshaDindi" We Wish to plant 5 Lakh
trees under the project ' one student one tree' in the
months of June-July.
Two days worksho on 'Role of Knowledge based institutes in
disaster management' MOU regarding disaster management has
been signed between UoP and `YASHADA, pune.
Faculty members participated international conferences on
disaster management. We have made Rs. 25 Lakhs provision for
training teachers and students in Disaster Management.
