Pune is fast becoming a hub for legal
services. The University has under its umbrella some of the top national law colleges. To inculcate the confidence and a sense of participation amongst the students of Law a yearly Moot Court
Competition for them is organized by the Board of Students' Welfare in collaboration with the Department of Law, University of Pune. The above competition is known as the "Late Justice P.B. Gajendragadkar Moot Court Competition".
To promote the art and habit of writing among the students, an annual magazine competition is organized by the Board of Students' Welfare. This helps students to learn the art of writing, editing, publishing a magazine. All colleges / institutes are requested to send copies of the annual magazine published by them to the Director Board of Students ' Welfare who in turn submits them to a panel of experts which is appointed by the Vice Chancellor to judge these magazines and award them positions. Prizes at the University level as well as District level are awarded to the selected magazine and the Principals are expected to be present to receive them at the Annual Prize Day organized by the Board of Students' Welfare. The university gives funds for the same. At the end of the academic year an annual prize distribution function is held where-in students / colleges / institutes who have excelled in various activities conducted by the Board of Students' welfare are felicitated at the hands of the Hon. Vice chancellor. This is a way to recognize talent, hard work and innovation.

Magazine Competition
All Law colleges under the University of Pune are expected to participate in the same; a rolling trophy is then given to the winning team. Funds for the same are made available through a donation given by the daughter of Late Justice P. B. Gajendragadkar i.e. Dr (Smt) Jaghirdhar and University of Pune. Rules for the same are as followed by the Moot Court Competition that is organized by the Bar Council of India annually.
