The Department teaching faculty is actively involved in research in various fields of Botany, which include angiosperm taxonomy, Algology, Mycology, Plant Pathology, Plant Physiology, Plant Biotechnology, Ecology and Pharmacognosy. The research is funded through sponsored projects as well as University grants. About 50 research students work for their M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in the Department.
