Botanical Garden
The Botany Department has an impressive Botanical garden, having a collection of over 490 species of 310 genera from 81 families of plants. Its special features include a collection of 22 species of palms, threatened and endangered ferns, gymnosperms, medicinal plants and plants of special botanical interest.
Museum
The department has a well built museum, which depicts the changes in flora along the geological time scale. Its special features include fossil specimen and peels, besides wet and dry specimen of the plant kingdom.
Department Library
The departmental library has a collection of over 3000 text books and reference books in Biology. M. Phil. and Ph.D. theses of the students who have been awarded the respective degrees are also available for reference work.
Field Facility
The Department has facilities to carry out field experiments in the Botanical garden. Experimental plots and irrigation facility is available.
Computer and Internet Facility
The department has a well equipped computer and Internet facility for conducting practicals in statistics and bioinformatics. WIFI connectivity is available within the Department, which is accessed by most students.
Microphotography Facility
The Department has several stereo-zoom, bright field, phase contrast and fluorescence microscopes with imaging attachments which are available to research students and faculty.
Culture Facilities
The department has the facilities for aseptic manipulations, transfer and incubation to raise in vitro cultures of algae, bacteria, fungi and higher plants. These include laminar air flow cabinets, shakers, incubators and incubation rooms.
