Library Facility
The department has a specialized library originally developed from UGC’s
ULP Programme (1982-87) and subsequently supported by UGC’s Special
Assistance Programme (1991-2007), Assistance for Strengthening of
Infrastructure for Humanities and Social Sciences ( ASIHSS)(2004-07)and
also supported (during 2007-09) by the Centre for Social sciences and
Humanities (CSSH) of the Pune University created under UPE. Later, the
library received support from the CAS (2008-2013) and XII plan funds
(2013-15).
This library has also received donations from the retired and current faculty
members from their personal collections (especially Professors Inamdar and
Vora, Limaye and Bapat). Other donors who donated part of their collections
include: SudhirSirsikar( son of Late Professor Sirsikar), KamaltaiBhagwat,
social and political activist from Pune and S.M. Golwalkar (retired lecturer of
Political Science, Fergusson College, Pune).
Currently, this library has over eight thousand books in its collection. The
Library also maintains the collection of M. Phil. dissertations by research
students of the Department. Books in the library are computer listed by
using software Easylib.
Computer
Lab Facility
The department has a Computer Lab with a provision of nineteen machines
with internet access and three machines also have the spss(spss.15)
software. The Computer Lab is open to all students of the department.
Other Facilities:
The department also has a copier, scanner and three LCD projectors, two
fixed in the two classrooms and one movable.
The department has a small seminar hall named after Professor V. M.
Sirsikar. The family of Late Professor Sirsikar donated the resources for
converting the existing room into a seminar hall.
