Admissions
The department admits students from various parts of India as well as
abroad. The in-take capacity at entry point (MA Part I) is sixty. Over and
above this, the department admits nine (15 % of In-Take) International
Students and students from NRI category. The department also admits Exchange
Students from Universities with which Pune University has MoU. To encourage
diversity, we encourage students from other states. Admissions are given as
per ordinance 181 and UGC guidelines.
Admissions are finalized by the Admissions Committee of the department on
merit basis. While preference is given to applicants who have done
bachelor’s degree with Political Science as a special subject, the
admissions committee reserves the right to give admissions to other students
preferably with a degree in journalism, other social sciences, experience of
social work or other relevant experience and/or degree in Social Work.
Admissions process begins after a Notification is issued by the University
(June end or early July). The last date for the submission of forms is also
declared by the University. Applicants need to send the filled in
application with relevant details to the Office of the department directly.
After the expiry of the last date, ordinarily within a week, the Admissions
Committee displays the list of admitted students at the Notice Board in the
Department.
M. Phil. Admissions
For the selection of M. Phil students there is an Entrance Test and a
Personal Interview, which is conducted by the department ordinarily during
the first semester.
Ph.D. Admissions
Admissions and conduct of the Ph. D.
research are governed by University Rules. Candidates are admitted as per
the availability of seats with Research Supervisors at the time of
admissions.
For all admissions, relevant rules of the state Government regarding reservation of seats apply.
