M.A. in Philosophy
ADMISSION TO
THE M.A. PROGRAMME
-
Admission
to the M.A.
Programme
begins after
the university
advertises
in newspapers,
generally
in the month
of May or
June. The
dates of
admission
procedure
are declared
on the University
website.

Admission
forms for
M.A. Programme
are made
available
on website
of the University.
-
The eligibility
criteria
for the
M.A Programme
Admission
will be
advertised
as per University’s
rules and
will be
displayed
in the Admission
Notification.
-
The department
follows
the reservation
policy of
the university
(as prescribed
by the Maharashtra
State Government).
Course Structure
and Curriculum
The semester-credit
system is being
followed for
the M.A. programme.
Every semester
a candidate
has to appear
for two compulsory
paper. Apart
form the compulsory
paper the candidate
is required
to offer optional
papers each
semester. (For

M. Phil. in
Philosophy
DURATION AND
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
-
The M.Phil
Programme
run by the
department
is a full-time
Programme.
The duration
of the programme
is 18 months
(Course-work
for 12 months
and additional
six months
for submission
for the
dissertation).
If any M.Phil
student
is unable
to complete
his/her
dissertation
within the
period,
he/she is
allowed
to do so
within an
additional
period of
six months.

For the
selection
of M.Phil
students
an Entrance
Test and
a personal
Interview
is conducted
by the department.
(Generally
in the month
of August-September).
The provision
for reservation
for M.Phil
is similar
to M.A.
Course and Curriculum
For M.Phil (Philosophy)
programme students
are required
to give three
papers consisting
of coursework
and a Dissertation
to be completed
in stipulated
period of time
under the guidance
of a supervisor
appointed by
the Department.

The registrations
for Ph.D. begin
as per university
schedule. Ph.D
admission procedure
has two stages:
1) Entrance
Test (PET)
(Note:
NET/SET/SLET
qualified candidates &
M.Phil awardees
are exempted
from test.)
2) Interview
cum presentation
(Applicable
to all)
Admissions of
International
Students
Admissions
of foreign nationals
to the courses
run by the Department
of Philosophy
are done through
International
Student’s Centre
with the approval
of the Head
of the Department.
