About Technology, Communication & Culture - TCC 2013 .
Welcome to the official website of the National Seminar on Technology, Communication & Culture - TCC 2012 . TCC 2012 will be held during March 08-10, 2012 in the Department of Communication Studies, University of Pune, Pune, India.
In the contemporary world, communication and the interchange of information takes place on a global scale. Production and consumption of information is greater than ever. Within this global milieu of information exchange, culture thrives through networks of internal and external links, forming a complex, multi-faceted cultural modality. New technologies evoked both delightful and frightful fantasies and realities in the creative and critical imaginations of media producers, consumers, and critics. Media play a very crucial role in education for living, working, and thinking critically within the world of new cultural formations. Fast changing technologies also challenged the members of popular and elite cultures to reconfigure relationships between selfhood, society, and the object world.
This conference emerges from a particular orientation toward relationship between Technology, Communication and Culture. The fast changing technology transforming the way we communicate thus transforming the culture we live in. Conference also attempts in exploring the cultural relationships that emerge as the roles of the media and technology shape each other in our space between. It is important for the study of technology because media corporations and policy bodies are very keen in political stakes of the questions we ask about technology. Whether we acknowledge it or not, as communication scholars we are already caught in larger political discourses about relationships between technology, culture and communication in a society.
