Situated among the picturesque surrounding of the University of Pune , the 
	spacious Department of Geology provides the facilities for both teaching and 
	research making. It is one of the prime institutions in India . The 
	department originated in the august portals of Ferguson College in 1955 and 
	was finally established in 1970 in its own right. Over the years the 
	Department has never once looked back in its forward march, going on from 
	strength to strength, gathering scholars on the way expanding its ambit in 
	both academic courses and research activities. The ever-enthusiastic staff 
	member and ever more impressive and up to date acquisition of necessary 
	equipments has made it what it is today.
	
	
	The Department 
	established in the University and has grown steadily The aim of the 
	Department is to strengthen its core activities of teaching, training and 
	research. The Department would also like to expand in future, the 
	development of technology and industrial Interaction under its auspices. The 
	main thrust of the Department however is in the areas like Petrology Remote 
	Sensing{ Environmental Geology, Structural Geology, Mineralogy, Morphometry 
	etc.
