About Interdisciplinary
School of Science
(IDSS)
In order to promote
an interdisciplinary
approach in teaching
and research, Savitribai
Phule Pune University
(SPPU) established
the Interdisciplinary
School of Science
(IDSS) about a decade
ago. The objective
of the School is
to promote dialogue
and collaboration
among various departments
within and outside
the science and
technology faculty
through teaching
and research. The
company of more
than 50 Departments
and Centres on the
University campus
provides IDSS the
perfect environment
to realize the spirit
of interdisciplinarity.
With an entire three
storied new building
allocated recently
by the University,
IDSS is now well
poised to take its
objective to a new
level. As a part
of its mission to
promote interdisciplinary
studies at graduate
and post- graduate
level, IDSS has
launched three new
courses from the
academic year 2019-20.
They are:

B. Sc. Blended
(Physics, Chemistry,
Environment
Sciences, Earth
Sciences)
-
B. A. (Liberal
Arts)
-
Master of Design
(M. Des.)
Besides being interdisciplinary,
these courses are
also well tuned
to the demands of
the industry and
academics which
are increasingly
seeking people who
can easily cross
the boundaries of
their disciplines
and integrate knowledge
for problem solving.
The coming together
of these three courses
under one roof also
provide a fertile
ground for innovative
ideas and approaches.
