GAT-B Admission Notification for Two-Years M.Sc. Biotechnology Programme 2024-2026

M.Sc. Biotechnology (2 years)

The admissions for M.Sc. Biotechnology (2 years) teaching programme in the Department is through a centralized GRADUATE APTITUDE TEST-BIOTECHNOLOGY (GAT-B) conducted for the DBT-supported PG Programmes in Biotechnology in participating institutions across India: M.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology, M.V.Sc., M.Tech. Biotechnology and M.Sc. in Allied areas, by Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad. Only those candidates who have passed or are appearing for the qualifying examinations (B.Sc.) are eligible to apply in this competitive entrance exam (GAT-B)..

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

After declaration of the Result of GAT-B 2024, candidate will download the rank card/ score card from RCB Faridabad. The RCB website will also display the name of participating universities/institutes and courses being offered under DBT support and respective eligibility conditions. The rank card/score card holder will visit the concerned university’s/institute’s website for re-confirmation of eligibility conditions of admission. Eligible candidates will have to fill registration form (Please click on the link for admissions to SPPU for 2024-25: https://forms.gle/EAN1dC8n3g1GLd3f7). After display of admission list by concerned University/Institute, students will contact the respective Program Coordinator of DBT supported PG Course for seeking admission and completing the required formalities. The students are requested to confirm the admission by submitting the admission form and the necessary fees within stipulated time mentioned in the communication from the Department.

Tentative list of documents required at the time of admission:

  1. Two copies of the Matriculation, Higher Secondary Pre-University of Indian School Certificate or Senior School Certificate (10+2) or an equivalent examination certificate, showing the age/date of birth of the candidate duly attested by the Principal of the College/School last attended or a Gazetted Officer;
  2. A character Certificate from the head of the Institution last attended
  3. Two attested copies of the statement of marks obtained by the candidate in Senior School, Bachelor’s Degree/Master Degree Examination etc; or their equivalent examination;
  4. Two attested copies of the Bachelor’s Degree and/Master’s Degree;
  5. SC/ST/OBC Certificate, if belonging to SC/ST/OBC category (Central government issued)
  6. Non-creamy Layer certificate, if necessary
  7. Transfer/Leaving Certificate from the previous University/Institution
  8. A medical Certificate for PH Candidates certifying nature & percentage of disability issued by the competent medical authority;
  9. Migration Certificate (in original) from the Head of the Institution/University last attended.
  10. Passport size photograph
  11. Electronic Signature

Important: The candidates are also required to produce all originals of the above certificates/documents for verification at the time of registration/admission. In the absence of any of the original certificates/documents, registration/admission shall not be allowed.
Outside Maharashtra candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category will be treated as Open category in terms of semester fee submissions with no concessions provided on the grounds of reservation.

SCHOLARSHIP/ FELLOWSHIP: Students selected for admission to M.Sc. Biotechnology (General) Programme at this Department will be eligible to receive scholarship at the rate of Rs. 5000/- p.m. from Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India.

M.Sc. Biotechnology Admission Procedure

PhD (Biotechnology) Programme:

The admissions for the PhD are carried out by PhD Entrance Test (PET) examination conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University every year. The students who have qualified NET/SET/GATE examinations are exempted from the PET examination. However, they have to fill the form for exemption from PET for PhD admissions when the portal for PhD admissions open on our SPPU website. For more information, please visit the following link.
