Indo-Norway Project- 2021 to 2025
Project title: Social Justice and Culture. Sustainable Social Welfare in Neoliberal Times (2021-2025)
Project Coordinators:
Prof. Shruti Tambe, SPPU- Savitribai Phule Pune University &
Dr. Kjersti Røsvik, University of South Eastern Norway
Project goals:
1) International cooperation as a measure for quality in higher education (Meld. St. 16 (2016-2017)) is one base for this project, which aims to strengthen partnership between USN and SPPU. .
2) Agenda
2030 and UN
SDGs (2015),
is another
base for the
project,
which in
particular
addresses
the goals to
ensure
inclusive
and
equitable
education
(goal 4),
end poverty
in all its
forms (goal
1) and
reduce
inequality
within and
among
countries
(goal 10).
3)Project results will be joint courses and curricula relevant to our key focus: The relationship between sustainable social justice, culture and welfare under conditions influenced by neoliberal transformation. How different states like Norway and India struggle with increasing social marginalization will be addressed, but also how both countries have succeeded – in very different ways – in achieving sustainable mechanisms of preserving diversity.
4)Theorizing justice and welfare state in a new era, based on cross-cultural comparison and fine-grained empirical studies will be encouraged. The approach will be student-centered in order to educate theoretically sound and methodologically trained students.
