1.
Computer Laboratory (CL)
There are two separate computer labs in the department, one for Geoinformatics and PG B.Sc. (Applied) students and the other for M.A./M.Sc. Geography students. A number of image processing and GIS packages including ArcGIS, ERDAS Imagine, etc. are available, together with statistical packages.
2.
Geomorphology Laboratory
The lab is equipped with all basic facilities for soils, sediment and water analysis. The facility also includes x-ray based particle size analyzer.
3.
Surveying Instruments
Apart from traditional surveying instruments (theodolites, dumpy levels and plane tables) the department has acquired advanced survey instruments such as Total Station, Laser Distance Measurer, GPS and DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) that allow us to generate high-resolution terrain data. This is one of the few geography departments in the country that has a DGPS.
4.
Topographical Maps, Satellite Images and Aerial Photographs
Maps and atlases are the backbone of geography. The Department holds one of the best collections of SOI topographical maps. The Department also has a good collection of aerial photographs and satellite imageries (digital and hardcopies) for teaching and research.
5.
Departmental Library
The department has good collection (over 400) of text books, encyclopedias, atlases and references books in geography and geoinformatics for teaching and research. In addition, a huge collection of books is present in the University library.
