1. M.A.
The M.A. programme consists of 4 semesters. Students have to take 4 courses
per semester, over a minimum period of 2 years. The courses taught in the
Department of English, University of Pune are different from courses taught
in other post-graduate centers of the University of Pune. Each course
involves 2 internal tests, and one semester-end examination. Students'
performance is graded in number of marks, and in a grade-scale. The final
result sheets and certificates reflect both marks, and grades. The new
syllabus is available here in MSWord format.
Classes are normally held between 9 a.m. to 5 a.m.
For further information on courses, do contact any of the faculty.
2.
M.Phil.
The M.Phil. programme
is divided into two streams, language, and literature. A course on Research
Methodology is common and compulsory for both the streams. There is one
compulsory course each for the two streams. After completing these taught
courses, students are offered some partially taught courses, after which
they are offered reading courses. After the course work is over, students
have to appear for a final examination, after which they are expected to
write their dissertations on the topics they have chosen.
The syllabus for the M.Phil. courses is available in the Department of
English.
Classes are normally held between 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the course work
duration is about 6 months.
