About the Sysadmin Team

The PUCSD System Administration team is responsible for managing all computing infrastructure across the department — including computer labs, servers, network, website, and digital services. The team ensures 24×7 availability of computing resources for students and faculty.

Campus LAN, Wi-Fi, internet connectivity, firewall, and bandwidth management for the department

File servers, mail servers, web hosting, backup systems, and departmental cloud infrastructure

Security

Antivirus management, access control, firewall rules, intrusion monitoring, and data protection

Website

Departmental website management, hosting, and updates including the official PUCSD web presence

Management of academic software licenses, tools, and institutional subscriptions available to students and faculty

Usage Policies

  • Academic coursework and research
  • Licensed software installation via sysadmin
  • Accessing departmental resources with valid credentials
  • 24×7 lab access with valid student ID
  • Remote access to department servers (where applicable)

❌ Not Permitted

  • Sharing login credentials with others
  • Installing pirated or unlicensed software
  • Using resources for non-academic commercial purposes
  • Deliberately damaging hardware or software
  • Bypassing network security or accessing restricted content
