To evaluate and improve air quality within Pune, India, and the
surrounding region, a credible accounting of the sources and quantity of
airborne emissions is needed. This was done through the development of
an emission inventory for the Pune region, including adjacent
metropolitan and rural areas.
Through seven days (16th-24th March 2004) of intensive, hands-on effort,
this project developed a prototype emission inventory and database
system. This prototype will provide the foundation for ongoing emission
inventory improvements, and possibly deployment to other regions.
