Matrimonial system : The propriety of having male and female sexes in humans is reproduction. It is essential that the married couple is in complete harmony with each other. But  in reality it is the other way. It is idealistic to think that love and affection would bond the life partners to give marital happiness. Actually devotion of the woman to her husband would be a cementing bond.
The author has analysed various matrimonial rites and suggests that  the redundant rites be deleted. According to him, there are only three steps in the marriage ritual. They are kanyavaran ( choosing a bride for the son), kanyadan ( giving the daughter to the bridegroom) and bharyakaran ( bridegroom to accept the bride as his wife).
